#Cultures 2027 Rescheduled to April 2027 and Launches New International Calls

#Cultures 2027 – International Online Congress of Studies on Cultures will take place from 6 to 9 April 2027 in a fully online format. The event was initially planned for October 2026 but required a review of its calendar, organisational structure and scientific proposal.

The change is mainly due to the absence of sufficient external funding to implement the model initially planned. In this context, the Latin American Center for Cultural Studies – CLAEC and Scientia International decided to extend the preparation period and reformulate the congress rather than reduce its programme or compromise the scientific, editorial and technological quality of the initiative.

A change designed to preserve the quality of the congress

The postponement is not merely a change of dates. The reorganisation made it possible to review the event’s operational model, expand opportunities for international participation, strengthen the digital infrastructure and establish a more suitable schedule for submissions, scientific evaluation, partnerships and publications.

The renewed edition consolidates #Cultures as a permanent digital forum dedicated to the critical and interdisciplinary study of cultures. Its proposal brings together scientific research, pedagogical practices, artistic creation, professional experience, critical reflection, institutional cooperation and public debate.

New dates: 6-9 April 2027
Format: 100% online
Organised by: CLAEC and Scientia International

Theme of the 2027 edition

The central theme of the edition will be “Cultures in the Reconfiguration of the World Order”, with the subtitle “Conflicts, Mobilities and Pluralities in the 21st Century”.

The congress is based on the understanding that current geopolitical reorganisation processes also have profound cultural dimensions. Conflicts, migrations, diasporas, digital technologies, disputes over memory, territorial transformations and new forms of belonging affect cultural policies, heritage, identities and social practices.

These issues will be discussed from an international, critical and interdisciplinary perspective, organised around eight permanent thematic axes.

New international calls

As part of the reformulation of the event, different participation opportunities are now available for researchers, students, faculty members, artists, cultural managers, professionals, research groups, graduate programmes and institutions.

Call for Submissions

The scientific call accepts contributions in seven formats:

  • Scientific Research;
  • Experience Report;
  • Cultural Practice;
  • Critical Essay;
  • Pedagogical Letter;
  • Artistic Creation;
  • Performance or Intervention.

Submissions must be linked to one of the eight thematic axes and will be evaluated through open peer review. Contributions that are accepted, presented and approved for publication may be included in the digital congress proceedings with an individual DOI.

Final submission deadline: 28 February 2027.

Thematic Axis Partnerships

Researchers, research groups, laboratories, graduate programmes and academic networks may propose a partnership connected to one of the congress’s thematic axes.

Selected partners may join the Scientific Committee of the corresponding axis and must submit a proposal for an academic activity for possible inclusion in the event programme.

Final proposal deadline: 30 September 2026.

Institutional Partnerships

Universities, graduate programmes, research centres, scientific associations, academic networks and cultural organisations may also join #Cultures 2027 as institutional partners.

The partnership does not require a financial contribution. It is an institutional cooperation arrangement focused on dissemination, scientific integration and the expansion of the congress’s international network.

Approved institutions may receive visibility through the event’s official channels and offer registration benefits to eligible affiliates.

Final application deadline: 31 January 2027.

Transparency and institutional commitment

CLAEC and Scientia International recognise the importance of communicating this change transparently. The decision was made to preserve the academic consistency of the event and ensure that it can be delivered under responsible financial, technical and organisational conditions.

The additional preparation period will allow the congress to expand its international scientific network, consolidate partnerships, strengthen the evaluation process and provide a more accessible experience for participants.
