Scientia International Journal for Biological Sciences appoints Dr. Sandra Santasusagna as Founding Editor-in-Chief

The Scientia International Journal for Biological Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sandra Santasusagna as its Founding Editor-in-Chief.

Based in Spain, Dr. Santasusagna is a PhD scientist with international experience in translational research, biomedical research, scientific writing and editing, regulatory and compliance processes, clinical trial documentation and academic teaching.

Her appointment marks an important step in the development of the Scientia International Journal for Biological Sciences, strengthening the journal’s academic leadership and its commitment to high-quality, interdisciplinary, multilingual and open access scientific publishing.

An academic profile in biological sciences, translational research and scientific communication

Dr. Sandra Santasusagna holds a PhD in Medicine and Translational Research, with a focus on Oncology and Cancer Biology, from the University of Barcelona.

Her academic and professional trajectory brings together biomedical research, preclinical and translational science, scientific writing, manuscript editing, clinical research documentation and medical communication.

This combination of research experience and scientific communication expertise aligns closely with the mission of the Scientia International Journal for Biological Sciences, which seeks to promote rigorous and accessible scientific publication across the biological sciences, life sciences, biomedical research and related interdisciplinary fields.

Research, editing and higher education

Dr. Santasusagna has more than ten years of international experience in translational research, scientific writing and editing. She has authored more than seventeen peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, as well as posters, oral presentations and conference materials.

Her expertise includes editing, reviewing and finalizing clinical study reports, protocols and manuscripts for clinical trials, as well as translating complex biomedical and preclinical data into clear, high-quality scientific deliverables.

She is also an Associate Professor at Universidad Isabel I and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, where she mentors graduate students in curriculum development projects and guided-learning activities related to lifelong learning technologies, biology and psychobiology.

Her academic competencies include molecular biology, cell culture, life sciences, oncology and biomedical research, with a strong interest in clinical research, scientific communication and medical writing.

Strengthening the journal’s editorial development

As Founding Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Sandra Santasusagna will provide academic and strategic leadership for the Scientia International Journal for Biological Sciences. Her role will include contributing to the development of the journal’s scope, thematic sections, editorial board, peer review standards and international positioning.
